The scaffolding has now been put up. The weather is not looking great for the next few days, so probably wont get much done this week. We spoke with our site supervisor and he reckons the roof should be on in approximately 3 weeks. He's also confident the house will be finished by Christmas. Yippee!!!
We have taken a great leap of faith and nerve to embark on building our first home. This is our story....
Balcony frame completed
The frame for the Balcony has been installed.
Also all the windows are in now.
We are pleased with the colour match mortar, not a bad match.

Brickwork started
Drove past the house today and could see that the brickwork had started.
Really pleased to see they have done so much on the ground level. Hopefully the scaffolding will arrive soon so they can continue with the up stairs level.
We decided to go with a colour match mortar. It looks a little darker at the moment but should dry closer to the brick colour....we hope!

Plumbing pipework
The pipework for the plumbing has been roughed in. All the water supply is done in black plastic hose instead of copper pipe these days. It looks a lot easier to install and they certainly put it in quick. Just hope we don't accidently drill into any of it in the future as it probably wouldn't take much to burst it. We might have to take plenty of pictures to show where it's all located, before the Gyprock is put up.
The picture below shows the en-suite bathroom. You can see the pipework for the bath which will be under the window.
This picture shows the drainage pipework coming down from the en-suite bathroom.

Bricks delivered
Our bricks were delivered today. We were relieved to see they were the right ones. We've heard in the past, people building with other builders have had the wrong bricks delivered and it had caused big delays.
The weather is looking good for this week so hopefully the bricklayers will crack on with it.
The bricks we have chosen are from PGH. They are the Mild Steel colour from the Matte textures range.

Frame delivered
We drove past our block this morning and saw the frame was being unloaded from a large truck.
This was a nice surprise.
The crane was getting pretty close to the power lines above, but they managed to unload without any problems.
Later in the day the frame had been unpacked and layed out ready to be put up. We could see they had marked out the slab for positioning of the frame.
